Objective: The research is focused on the relation between obesity and bronchial asthma, whose prevalence has been increasing. Methods: The sample group consisted of 506 respondents at the age of over 19 years who were diagnosed with bronchial asthma. The research methods were a questionnaire, asthma control test and medical history analysis. The data were processed using a descriptive statistics method and cluster analysis. Results: We discovered that a BMI increase does not depend on gender. JNSS 2018, 9(1-2):14-26 | DOI: 10.32725/jnss.2018.002
It is said that over five million Nigerians are officially diagnosed as suffering from diabetes. The labelling of chronic diseases as "diseases of affluence" is no longer valid as they also appear in poorer countries, too. Paradoxically, diabetes is occurring at a faster rate in developing countries than it did in the industrialised regions of the world half a century ago. This paper is based on fieldwork conducted in 2015. The fieldwork aimed to verify the connection between diet and diabetes by focusing on a particular group of people in the semi-urban area of Edo State. The aim of this study is to establish, through an analysis of fieldwork data,...

JNSS 2018, 9(1-2):42-47 | DOI: 10.32725/jnss.2018.005
Introduction: Delivery and postpartum pain is individually experienced by each woman. The aim: (1) to analyze the growth of cleft palate in patients with complete unilateral cleft of the lip and palate (cUCLP) after cheiloplasty with primary periosteoplasty, and (2) to compare the results with published data of younger cUCLP patients after neonatal cheiloplasty.Materials and methods: The study deals with the longitudinal growth changes of the palate, including alveolar segments and its variability within the analysed group of 14 patients with cUCLP. Twenty eight dental plaster casts obtained from each patient in the two examinations (before cheiloplasty and before palatoplasty) were used for the analysis. The first...

JNSS 2018, 9(1-2):55-66 | DOI: 10.32725/jnss.2018.007
In the search for efficiency, new forms of health care have been introduced in the last two decades in Germany. Consecutive governments have set different reform criteria for a successful development of community health centres1, bordering the ambulatory and stationary systems. Since their efficiency is not well documented, policy makers should be asking: Are community health centres worth further development or is it a redundant regulation driven predominantly by nostalgia? This study combines overall analysis of the reform's outcomes based on political science methods with an examination of public survey results. Findings suggest that all criteria...

JNSS 2018, 9(1-2):67-78 | DOI: 10.32725/jnss.2018.008
This study summarizes the issue of socially pathological behaviour in the psyche of drivers who cause traffic accidents. Its goal is to define the characteristics of these offenders and to highlight the possibility of recognizing them during preventative examinations. The socially pathological characteristics of people, and thus their behaviour in traffic, often result in tragedy. The psychology of driving deals intensively with the psychological profiles of drivers who not only commit traffic offences, but are becoming a real danger for disciplined drivers. Every participant in traffic, whether a driver or a passenger, can become their victim at any...
