Claus Muss, Thomas Endler

JNSS 2013, 4(3-4):107-111 | DOI: 10.32725/jnss.2013.012

We examined the relationship of two neurohormones with neuroendocrine impact (serotonin /5-HT/ and adiponectin) under standardized clinical conditions in an overweight cohort. Adiponectin was measured in serum and Serotonin was determined in the second morning urine samples. Serotonin correlated positively with adiponectin in our investigation Srho (+0.303; p=0.03). As high adiponectin level corresponds with a low risk of Insulin resistance our findings refer to possible improvement of prediabetic conditions in overweight patients tracking peripheral serotonin circulation. Further clinical evidence is mandatory to verify the effects of 5-HT in patients...

Petra Formánková

JNSS 2013, 4(3-4):133-143 | DOI: 10.32725/jnss.2013.015

Care service that originates on the basis of neighbourhood and civic mutual assistance has undergone many years of demanding process, which resulted in the modern social service working in many places with cutting-edge technologies. Current caretakers differ from the then kind of neighbour, who dropped in to warm lunch and brought the shopping, in their expert knowledge and skills. Care service comprises many forms, although its quality is standardized. There are towns and villages, where the day care is so desirable that the provider is unable to meet the demand. Conversely, there are places where clients seek alternative services because the quality...

Alena Kajanová, David Urban, Pavlína Adamcová

JNSS 2013, 4(3-4):159-164 | DOI: 10.32725/jnss.2013.018

The aim of this survey study is to highlight the changes in the status of the Romany woman in the family and in society. The status of the Romany woman had always been one of subordination to the Romany man. The woman was responsible for the household and care of the children and family, and even for its livelihood if necessary. The woman's position was determined by her age, fertility, and number of children, and, to a certain extent, did not allow access to education or the official job market. Currently, we are seeing efforts of emancipation of Romany women in the family, where the younger generation is already making their decisions about the number...
